About us
Vienna Economic Development (VED) was founded in 2023 as a joint initiative of the City of Vienna (represented by Wien Holding) and the Vienna Chamber of Commerce (WKW) to strategically strengthen Vienna’s position as a leading international business hub. Acting as a project-focused unit, VED is dedicated to fostering the growth of future technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), digitalization, hydrogen, and renewable energies.
VED serves as a gateway for Viennese companies to access international markets, providing them with the support needed to enhance their global competitiveness. By leveraging the city’s extensive know-how and resources, VED actively promotes Vienna's expertise abroad. Additionally, VED works in close cooperation with the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and the Vienna Business Agency to drive international investments and facilitate business relocations. The ultimate goal is to contribute to the global standing of Vienna as a hub of innovation, driving economic growth and securing the city's long-term competitiveness.
